Rebonded foam is a kind of foam which made from recycled items or scarps. They are attached together using a special gluey. It is a money-saving and environmentally friendly. It is alternative of other types of foam materials. Like other foam material it is also dynamic in nature. It is used in manufacture of various items such as furniture cushions, packaging materials, carpet padding, gym mats etc. As It can be divided into various sizes and can be utilised in various needs.

Why Rebonded Foam is used over PU Foam?

Rebonded foam is the most suitable option for sound insulation purposes as it has a very high mass capable of dampening sound waves. It can be easily used in areas like home theatres, recording and sound treatment rooms. Manufacturing of rebonded foam involves a complex process, wherein, foam scraps are first cut into small pieces, which are then combined with a bonding agent that helps strengthen the pieces. This mixture is placed in a hydraulic press and compacted into large blocks and holds its shape until cured. After curing, the blocks are cut into different shapes and sizes as per the requirements. Rebonded foam offers several benefits to the end users like better sound insulation properties, wide range of areas of use, superior quality and low price, making it widely and favorably adopted by several industries.

Rebonded Foams Features:

Here are some rebonding Foam Features:

  • Light Weight: Lightweight construction material suitable for creating multicolored fabric sheets.
  • Conditionable: Can be trimmed to any shape and form, enabling the production of various products like sofa sets and mattress sets.
  • Acoustic Thermal Construction: Good for sound, shock absorption and heat insulation in buildings.
  • High Indentation Load Deflection: Supports a weight approximately 25% of its height, a characteristic of stronger densities.

Rebonded Foams Appcliations

Non FR foams are quite versatile and have different uses in a number of industries and also in day-to-day products. Unlike flame-retardant foams, non FR foams do not offer resistance to fire but useable & economical.

Types and Applications:

Non-FR foams have different categories including rigid types and flexible types. Each type has different applications based on its physical characteristics and intended application. Non-FR foams can be found in many products that are used in daily activities. For example, they are incorporated in the insulation of refrigerators and freezers, in protective plastic sheets, and in packaging materials for goods during transportation. They are also used in appliances for the suppression of vibration and thermal insulation.

Industry Uses:

In various branches of manufacturing such as television sets and home appliances, non-FR polyurethane (PU) sheets are widely used. These types of foams can be functional in the insulation and cushioning of products thereby improving performance and life span.

Household Furniture:

Non-FR foams are also widely used in household furniture such as mattresses and upholstery. These include PU foam, memory foam, and other spring foams. These types of foams work to promote comfort and support on items such as sofas, couches, and beds.

Insulation Properties: Non-FR foams, especially polyurethane foams, have heat retaining characteristics that anyone considering their utility should appreciate. Scenarios include filling voids and gaps within structures that help to retrofit thermal insulation within buildings.

Some categories of non-FR foams have certain adhesive properties that are applied in construction for bonding/sealing purposes. This makes any form of foam a practical building material where the application enhances structural integrity.

Acoustic Applications:

Non-FR foams are also used in acoustic treatments. These non-fire-resistant acoustic foams are good for all types of damping, but can be applied especially for higher frequencies and for higher temperature acoustics when thicker foams are used. This makes it not too difficult to achieve the desire for a quieter environment, for example in a recording studio or home theater.

In general, non-FR foams offer various advantages due to their strap ability, insulating properties, and a wide range of applications – both industrial and domestic.
